President Vladimir Putin can visit the final part of the Caucasus-2016 military exercises. According to Kommersant, a source in the military administration reported this. According to the interlocutor of the publication, the exercises will be held at the Yuvo training grounds, in the waters of the Black and Caspian Seas.

The teachings of the "Caucasus-2016" began five days after a large-scale verification of the combat readiness of the troops in the South Association. According to the source, a weekly check of the southwestern strategic direction preceding the teaching was carried out at the direct instructions of Vladimir Putin and was considered as a response measure to the incident with Ukrainian military personnel in the Crimea, which the FSB was accused of trying to sabotage.

The exercises were planned and worked out for a long time, the source noted. They had to complete the summer cycle of training in the Armed Forces.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that they intend to verify the level of training of military administration bodies for the leadership of the inter -impetus groups of troops. Commanders and headquarters will receive practice in the planning, preparation and conduct of military operations. In total, about 12.5 thousand military personnel, as well as aviation, military equipment and ships, will be involved in the exercises.

On Monday, seven Su-27 aircraft of the fighter aviation regiment deployed in Karelia were relocated to the operational airfield in Adygea, where they will perform maneuvers to destroy the targets in the air and on the ground, and the units of a separate motorized rifle brigade of the Yuvo, divided in the Volgograd region, are given in the highest degree of combat readiness at the training ground at the training ground "Prudboy".

Particular attention, as emphasized in the Ministry of Defense, will be paid to air defense: the VKS units will have to reflect the attacks of a conditional enemy aviation, interacting with drones of the Orlan-10 and Eleron type. The Navy, in turn, will fulfill the tasks of protecting and defending the internal waterways in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea, and aviation and coastal forces of the Black Sea Fleet will repel the attack of a conditioned enemy.
