A Kovrov resident stabbed his wife and teenage son to death before the last divorce court hearing

In the Vladimir region, a criminal case has been opened against a 52-year-old resident of the city of Kovrov, who stabbed his wife and teenage son to death before the last hearing of the divorce court (clause “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code). This was reported on the website of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

According to investigators, in 2010, discord began in the family of the 52-year-old suspect. About two years ago, his relationship with his wife deteriorated even more, but due to circumstances they continued to live in the same apartment with their son. The man often complained about his son’s upbringing, “believing that the boy should grow up at attention,” and equipped his room with CCTV cameras. Meanwhile, the boy was distinguished by excellent studies and exemplary behavior.

Conflicts continued in the family, and as a result, divorce proceedings and litigation regarding the division of property began. The last court hearing was scheduled for September 6. In the morning, when a 54-year-old woman was preparing breakfast for her son before school, the suspect approached her from behind and hit her on the head with a chair leg and then stabbed her to death. The man stabbed his son, who left the room in response to the noise.

The boy ran back into the room. Having dealt with his wife, the man went to his room and stabbed him to death. After that, he himself called the police and reported what happened. He later told an investigator that he had planned everything in advance: he quit his job, paid off his debts and helped his mother around the house.

The Investigative Committee noted that those around him considered him a hardworking and caring person. The issue of arresting the suspect is being decided. A psychiatric forensic examination is also planned.
