© International Memorial / FacebookThe Ministry of Justice conducts an unscheduled audit of the international historical, educational, charitable and human rights society Memorial. Employees of the ministry are looking for signs of Memorial activities as a foreign agent.
The Facebook Memorial reports that the audit began on September 5 and is carried out on behalf of the General Prosecutor's Office on the subject of “identifying the presence (absence) of the organization’s activities as a non -profit organization performing the functions of a foreign agent ...”.
“In accordance with the request of the Ministry of Justice, documents (protocols, work reports, publications, financial and banking documents, etc.) are presented for the audit for four years (from the moment the law is adopted [on foreign agents. - colta.ru]), a total volume of 31250 sheets,” the Memorial said.
The results of the audit will become known no later than September 30.
To date, the register of non-profit organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent includes 141 organizations, including the Memorial human rights center and the Memorial Information and Educational Center.
The last replenishment of the registry the other day was the Levada Center .
PS In connection with the verification of the Memorial, the chairman of the board of the organization Arseniy Roginsky commented on Interfax . “For us, based on past experience, the result should be the worst. He said. -On the other hand, we need to wait for the end of the audit, everything is possible there, after all, we have the status of an international organization. International organizations on the decision of the Constitutional Court cannot be included in the register. ”
“Given how the Ministry of Justice understands political activity, namely, as an attempt to influence public opinion - all our activities are an impact on public opinion, like any public organization, it will be easy,” Roginsky noted.
“Memorial has been working for about 30 years, this is evidence that many people in the country need us. I am sure that whatever the result of the audit, the work of the Memorial will continue, ”said the chairman of the board of Memorial.
