On September 6, one of the groups on VKontakte published a photograph of half -naked freshmen of the historical faculty of Kemerovo State University. The picture was taken during the traditional initiation into students, which was held at a camp site near the village of Poyakovo. On the same day, the picture was published by the Kemerovo portal VSE42, indicating - citing one of the freshmen - that young people were forced to take their clothes. After the appearance of this information, the dean of the faculty was resigned by Konstantin Yumatov and his deputies, and the Investigative Committee began the audit. Dedication to students has been carried out in Poyakovo for 28 years. In an interview with Medusa, the graduate of the Kemerovo State University of Kemerovo, Alexander Aksenov, who was present at the camp site as a guest, said that for three days that dedication lasts, freshmen undergoes various stages of the competition - to develop a team spirit. “The task of“ Poyakovo ”is to turn yesterday’s schoolchildren not just into students, but into real historians with an appropriate worldview,” says Aksyonov.

The competition, during which some students had to take off their clothes, is called the Bazaar Station. Its essence lies in the fact that freshmen are invited to reduce the rope from their own things. According to Aksenov, students, offering their own element of clothing, "learn to make a personal contribution to achieve a common goal." Usually - and this competition has been held for several years - sweaters, jackets, belts and laces were used. “This year, apparently, the presenters turned out to be too good motivators - and the guys, having passed several contests, were already entering the excitement, were carried away. The picture was taken before everyone came to their senses, ”says Aksyonov.

Only one of the participants in the dedication into students announced the duress of undressing. “We began to refuse, and older students began to put pressure on us,” she said . According to her, the students were first persuaded, then they began to threaten physical reprisal.

On September 7, university employees and students stopped discussing the situation and comment on it on social networks. On the eve of the Kemerova newspaper, she quoted freshmen who participated in the very competition. "We were sunk, no one forced the freshmen to undress!" - said one of them. According to her, the one who posted the photo on the Internet "acted vilely."

When the picture was published, the dean of the Eastfacing and his two deputies resigned. Representatives of the University of the University of Medusa did not respond. Earlier, in an interview with the Kemerova newspaper, the head of the university’s press service, Maria Venediktova, said that the Kemerovo State University began his own verification: “The official check will end no later than September 9th. Currently, two deputy deanes of the faculty of history and international relations, Alexei Adamenko and Roman Sezyenev have been fired. ” According to the newspaper, they are not going to expel students depicted in the photo.

In January 2016, the university gave way to the leadership. This happened after the university unification with the Kemerovo Technological Institute of Food Industry. Now the duties of the rector are fulfilled by Alexander Proskov, who was previously the rector of the Institute of Food Industry. According to the Medusa source close to the university, the new leadership of the university is skeptical of such initiations to students. “The liberties of the university are not always happy with his [new rector],” the source says. He does not exclude that the scandal was used as an occasion to change the leadership of the Istfak.
