It will be possible to deprive scientific degrees only after a court decision on plagiarism and copyright violations that has entered into force. This was reported by the newspaper "Vedomosti".

The Ministry of Education and Science published the corresponding draft of the government decree on regulation.gov.ru. He introduces changes to the provision on the award of academic degrees. In particular, a clause is made to the provision that a copy of the court decision on the recognition of copyright violations in respect of whom the application has been submitted should be applied to the application for deprivation.

One of the founders of Dissernet, Andrei Zazakin, believes that the adoption of such a law means "a complete victory of plagiators."

According to him, after the entry into force of this bill entered into force, not a single statement on the deprivation of the degree of "disserter" will not be able to submit, since he will not have court decisions on copyright violations. He also stated that the dissothes that traded dissertations will be able to resume their business.

MP Mosgordum Vladimir Platonov abandoned the degree after the statement of Dissernet. After the investigations of Dissernet, the State Duma deputy Rishat Abubakirov, ex-minister of agriculture Elena Skrynnik, were deprived of their degrees. Dissernet published examinations of the dissertations of the Commissioner for the Rights of the Child Pavel Astakhov, United Russia Olga Batalina, Vladimir Vasiliev, Vladimir Burmatov, Minister of Culture of Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of Nikolai Nikiforov and many other officials.
