Cossacks prevent Greenpeace activists from going to put out a forest fire

In the Krasnodar Territory, Cossacks are preventing Greenpeace Russia activists from leaving to put out a forest fire, despite the fact that environmentalists have already reached an agreement with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who are waiting for their help. The fire-fighting expedition, consisting of activists from Greenpeace and the Environmental Watch for the North Caucasus, has been in the Bryukhovetsky district of the Krasnodar Territory since the evening of September 5 and until September 8 extinguished forest fires. The Greenpeace Russia website reports that a group of Cossacks surrounded the base. The police are there and, according to the environmental organization, are trying to resolve the conflict.

In August, the Greenpeace expedition, which arrived in the Krasnoyarsk Territory to check information about environmental violations in the lower reaches of the Yenisei, was faced with the fact that activists were not allowed out of the city of Dudinka. The organization's website published a story about this expedition, including stories about how environmentalists were hindered by such obstacles.
