FSB officers detained the acting head of the main department for economic security and combating corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Zakharchenko, RIA Novosti reports citing its own source. Later, the information was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The interlocutor of RIA Novosti said that Zakharchenko was detained on Thursday, September 8. A large amount of cash was found in his car. Subsequently, his apartment was searched.
Interfax's interlocutor claims that Zakharchenko was detained on suspicion of abuse of power. There is no official confirmation of information about the detention. The interlocutor of the agency notes that the detention of Zakharchenko may be connected with the case of the connections of the crime boss Zakhary Kalashov with high-ranking officials of the Investigative Committee.
