Ukraine will file a "large -scale lawsuit" against Russia

Ukraine intends to file a "large -scale comprehensive lawsuit" against Russia against the violation of the UN law on marine law. According to Ukrainian Pravda, this was announced on the air of the ICTV television channel by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin.

"The first big lawsuit will be filed this week. It applies to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. It is actually comprehensive, since it contains such fundamental issues as the use of sea space, a violation of environmental safety, but also objects of cultural heritage. This is a very large -scale claim," he said.

The minister noted that Ukraine will seek compensation from Russia, but the amount of claims did not specify. “Of course, we will go to compensation, this is absolutely clear,” Klimkin said.

Klimkin announced the filing of the claim at the end of August. According to him, Ukraine will present the UN complete information about Russia's violation of obligations within the framework of the Convention on Sea Law. "We will further use international courts in order to prove that Russia has violated all fundamental agreements and is an aggressor," the minister said.

According to Klimkin, Kyiv also intends to prove that Moscow "violated obligations within the framework of the Convention on the ban on financing of terrorism."
