1971 Creation of the Greenpeace organization

45 years ago, on September 15, 1971, the newly formed committee Don't Make a Wave ("Do not create a wave") sent the chartered ship Phyllis Cormac, later renamed Greenpeace ("Green World"), on the route from Vancouver to Amchitka ( Alaska) to protest against nuclear tests in earthquake-prone areas. This day began to be considered the founding day of the Greenpeace Foundation (as the Don't Make a Wave committee has been called since 1972). This international non-governmental organization carries out environmental projects and conducts protest campaigns against the actions of governments and private companies that damage the environment.
