The leader of the Kharkov pro -Russian group "Oplot" Zhilin was killed in the suburbs

In the Odintsovo district of the Moscow Region, the leader of the Kharkov pro -Russian group "Oplot" Evgeny Zhilin was killed. This is reported by Interfax with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies.

The incident occurred on Monday evening in the village of Gorki-2 on the Rublevo-Uspensky highway, in the restaurant "Veterok". When Zhilin, along with a certain Andrei Kozyrev, went into the institution, the unknown person shot several times at them from a pistol.

Kozyrev is seriously wounded. He was taken to the hospital.

The Investigative Committee opened the case under paragraph "A" of part 2 of Article 105 (murder of two or more persons) and Article 222 of the Criminal Code (illegal turnover of weapons).

According to Interfax, immediately after the murder, Zhilin, the shooter, disappeared on a car waiting at the restaurant with a driver. Meanwhile, TASS claims that the killer and his accomplices left for two cars. As part of the “interception” plan, the police are looking for a yellow taxi and an “unidentified dark foreign car,” the agency reports.

Zhilin was 40 years old. He worked in the Organized Crime Control Department, then in the SBU. In the mid-2000s, he was convicted of charges of attempted attempted secretary of the Kharkov City Council of Gennady Kernes, as well as abuse of authority and illegal turnover of weapons and explosives. After three years, Zhilin was justified, as the evidence witness abandoned previously these testimonies. Having been released, he again got a job in the bureaus.

Zhilin resigned from the police in 2010. He himself stated that he retired by seniority. Meanwhile, it was reported that the actual reason for dismissal was a suspicion of double murder. It was claimed that Zhilin was arrested, but then they were released, and the case against him was closed for lack of evidence.

Also, Zhilin was a witness in the case of poisoning in 2004 of the presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko.

In 2010, after leaving the police, Zhilin registered a number of firms, including the Oplot fighting club. In the same year, on the basis of the fighting club, he formed the city public organization Oplot - as stated, to counteract the heroization of the OUN and UPA.

In March 2013, Zhilin announced his intention to open funds for the installation of a monument to Stalin in Kharkov.

After the start of the revolution, the dignity of Zhilin and his organization took an active part in the Kharkov Anti -Maidan. In mid-January 2014, Oplot almost went to Kyiv in full force. The members of the organization along with the security forces detained the activists of the Euromaidan, and also attacked them. It is believed that Zhilin was part of a group that abducted and tortured the Maidanovites Igor Lutsenko and Yuri Verbitsky; Verbitsky was tortured to death.

After the victory of the revolution, Zhilin fled from Ukraine. A number of criminal cases were opened against him.

However, already in the spring of 2014, Zhilin, along with his group, arrived in Donetsk. He became one of the leaders of the DPR militia. Later, the head of the Donetsk branch of Oplot, Alexander Zakharchenko, was appointed "head of the DPR".

On February 22, 2015, the Oplot militants staged an explosion on the Kharkov march of unity dedicated to the anniversary of the victory of the revolution. Four people died; Nine were injured.

In April 2015, the SBU neutralized a group of 11 people involved in the terrorist attacks in the territory of Kharkov and the region. It was reported that the actions of criminals were coordinated by Zhilin.

In Ukraine, Oplot was recognized as a terrorist organization. Zhilin himself on January 28, 2016 was arrested in absentia to the Pechersky district court of Kyiv in the case of abductions and torture.
