Deputy Andrei Babushkin received six years

Andrei Mayakov, Andrei Babushkin's deputy human rights activist at the Committee for Civil Rights, was sentenced to six years. This was announced by Nikolai Kavkazsky, an activist of Yabloko and a former defendant in the Bolotnaya case.

According to the investigation , Mayakov, "while in his office, received from the person involved in the criminal case, which is being investigated by the police, at least 900 thousand rubles." The human rights activist allegedly promised that he would transfer the money as a bribe to an employee of the prosecutor’s office of the North-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow for making a decision to close the criminal case, although in reality he had “neither acquaintances in the indicated division of the prosecutor’s office, nor any other opportunities to influence the procedural decision on criminal case." According to the investigation, Mayakov intended to appropriate the money received.

As Andrei Babushkin, head of the "Committee for Civil Rights," said earlier , a certain Denis Selin had previously applied to the Committee. Mayakov agreed to become his defender, voicing the amount of the fee for participating in the case. When the police broke into the office, Selin stated that Mayakov demanded money from him to "resolve the issue with the prosecutor."
