The International Swift Payment System will strengthen security measures to help customers protect themselves from scammers. According to the organization’s press release, since December 2016, SWIFT users will receive daily reports with verification of transaction authenticity.
The reports will include all payment instructions sent to the system from the client’s SWIFT terminal. In addition, the document will spell out the risks of how much certain instructions differ from typical for a particular client. At the same time, the system reports will receive customers on a separate channel, so that even in case of unauthorized access of strangers to the terminal, SWIFT users will receive this data.
New ways to protect against scammers are introduced by SWIFT after the stroke of $ 81 million from Hackers from the Central Bank of Bangladesh in the US Federal Reserve, Reuters points out. It is assumed that scammers gained access to the accounts by hacking Swift. In addition, at the end of August, Swift reported new cyber attacks in her system undertaken by scammers.
