1991 Referendum on Armenian independence

25 years ago, on September 21, 1991, a referendum on the independence of Armenia was held. To the question "Do you agree that the Republic of Armenia should be an independent democratic state outside the USSR?" 99.5% of voters answered positively. Turnout was 95%. According to the results of the referendum on September 23, the Supreme Council of Armenia confirmed the withdrawal of the republic from the USSR.
