Igor Trunov was stripped of his lawyer status

The Chamber of Lawyers of the Moscow Region has deprived Igor Trunov of his lawyer status, reports . Interfax

“The Council of the Moscow Region Bar Association deprived me of the status of a lawyer. We will appeal to the court,” Trunov told the agency.

According to TASS , the chamber justified this decision by the fact that Trunov violated the norms of professional ethics. Trunov's representative Lyudmila Aivar, who is also his wife, confirmed to the agency her intention to appeal today's decision.

“In ten days we will receive a written decision with reasons and will appeal this decision in court,” she explained.

As Trunov himself said, several lawyers filed a collective complaint because of his speech at a press conference. According to lawyers, Trunov’s statements damaged the authority of the legal profession.

“The essence of my statements is that there is corruption in the ranks of the legal profession, there are “nonsense lawyers” who are intermediaries between law enforcement agencies and unscrupulous clients,” Trunov clarified.

Igor Trunov represented the interests of victims, including in cases of airplane bombings in 2004, a terrorist attack in a theater center on Dubrovka and a terrorist attack at Domodedovo airport in 2011.
