Google released Allo messenger. What is this?

And why Edward Snowden does not recommend installing it

Google released ALLO on September 21. The corporation calls it a “smart messenger” - primarily thanks to the built -in bot, which can give tips and fulfill instructions. "Medusa" briefly tells what ALLO is still noteworthy.

1. Virtual assistant. This is the main feature of ALLO. The user can both communicate directly with the bot, and call him in a chat with friends. The assistant knows how to fulfill simple instructions: “Show the video with cats”, “Tell me about the weather”, “Put the alarm”, “Where to eat sushi nearby”. Sometimes he intervenes in the conversation to offer his help - for example, to show the place that you mentioned. The assistant works only in English (later the company promises to add support for other languages).

2. Hipples of answers. Another “smart” function of Allo, which is already in the inbox postal client. Sometimes the application offers several buttons with the most likely text of the answers (this may be emoji). This function is also available only in English.

3. Encrypted chats. Allo has an incognito mode that looks like protected chats in Telegram. In this mode, a virtual assistant does not participate in your correspondence, and messages can be destroyed through a given period of time.

4. Large font, stickers and more. Allo has all the main functions of other instant messengers: stickers and the ability to send photos by previously editing them (for example, having finished something with a finger from above). Even in the application, you can change the message font: if you clamp the “Send” button, a slider appears, with which you can increase and reduce the size of the text.

5. Not for paranoid. Correspondents themselves are encrypted, but Google robots can still read them. Previously, the developers promised that the messages would not be stored on the servers for long, but now it turned out that they would not delete correspondence. Google explained this by the need to teach artificial intelligence: machine learning requires a large amount of data. Therefore, the main paranoid of the planet Edward Snowden strongly recommends not to install ALLO.

6. All this is only in phones. Google does not exclude the appearance of versions for computers, but so far Allo is available only on iOS and Android .
