Medinsky took away the right to manage money from the heads of departments of the Ministry of Culture

Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky took away the right to manage budget funds from the directors of departments of the ministry and their deputies, writes RBC.

According to Medinsky's order, the right to sign documentation on public procurement, conclude government contracts and additional agreements to them now remains only with the first deputy minister and ordinary deputies.

Previously, not only the leadership of the ministry, but also the directors of departments and their deputies had powers of attorney for the right to manage budgetary funds.

Medinsky signed the order on 7 September. According to RBC's source, the minister decided to tighten the distribution of budgetary funds after a criminal case on embezzlement during the restoration of monuments.

Recall that the person involved in the case is Deputy Minister of Culture Grigory Pirumov, who was detained in March by the FSB. He is currently under arrest. Boris Mazo, Director of the Property Management Department of the Ministry of Culture, Oleg Ivanov, Director of the Center for Restoration, Dmitry Sergeev, Director of Baltstroy, Alexander Kochenov, the company's manager, and Nikita Kolesnikov, Advisor to the General Director of Linnit-Consult, are also involved in the case.

According to investigators, a criminal group led by Pirumov stole funds during the restoration of the Novodevichy Convent, the Drama Theater in Pskov, the John the Baptist Monastery and the Cosmonautics Museum in Kaluga.
