Moscow athlete Vsevolod Bolshakov told how he ran the Moscow marathon on September 25 dressed as Godzilla.
To make the costume, he bought a lot of foam rubber and glue. After that, he did costume modeling every evening. Here's what Godzilla looked like without paint:
The athlete recalls that those around him called the suit a torture chamber: “Every time I put it on, I was all wet after 15 minutes.” But Bolshakov found that if you control your emotions and do not get nervous, less moisture is released.
Godzilla's tail was too long, so he rode on wheels. According to Bolshakov, all the runners wanted to take pictures with him, so he started later than planned. In the first kilometers, someone stepped on the tail - I had to rewind it with tape.
The athlete in the foam suit quickly overheated and rubbed all parts of the body, including the ears. He had to run, spreading his legs wide and starting each step from the heel. Despite this, he reached the finish line in 5:54:48 (without a suit, Bolshakov planned to run in three hours).
In addition to Godzilla, a man in a wolf mask and an athlete in a Run for Beer T-shirt ran the marathon.
And an Indian.
Honestly, I'm surprised by the amount of support I got at the start. When I created the costume, I thought that half would support, and the other half would call me Dolboyashcher. But no, absolutely everyone encourages with a kind word, it was nice, because I trudge like a turtle.
