The UseeBand bracelet put on the hand translates the dactical alphabet gestures into the text and displays it on a smartphone or tablet in real time. The device developed with the participation of the greenhouse of social technologies is designed for people with restrictions on hearing and vision and provides the opportunity to freely communicate with people who do not know the language of gestures.

The device is attached on the inside of the palm and with the help of built -in sensors recognizes gestures - 32 letters of the dactic alphabet. The data obtained are processed by a software neural network and displayed on a smartphone in the form of words and sentences.

The translator bracelet can work up to 12 hours without recharging, has a Bluetooth module for communication with the Android application.

The prototype of the UseeBand bracelet became the winner of the II HacATON “Technology of equal opportunities” , organized by a greenhouse of social technologies and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education. The project team was accelerate and became a member of the Program “Technology of Opportunities 2.0” in 2016, in which she finalized the device and prepared it for the release on the International Day of the Deaf on September 25.

“Development was originally conceived only as an assistant device for deaf -blind people - limited simultaneously by hearing and vision. However, later the project team saw a greater potential for its development. Deaf, and especially densely, have certain difficulties in interaction with people around. But sometimes these restrictions are caused not by the physiology of man, but by an artificially created life situation. That is why the mission of our project is to expand the communication capabilities of a person in conditions of any restrictions. ” Ivan Borodin, UseeBand project manager.
