Golodets was indignant at the existence of "working poor" Russians

In Russia, about 4.8 million people receive a salary, which is approximately equal to the minimum wage (minimum wage), including 1.8 million state employees. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, Interfax reports.

“The poor working population is, of course, a very wrong phenomenon. If a person works, he must receive a normal, worthy salary for this work. <...> We would like to get away from this situation when we have working poor, ”she said.

According to Golodets, the government notes a decrease in the income of the country's population. She noted that "income is the cornerstone of our policy."

The minimum wage in Russia from July 1 was increased by almost 21% to 7.5 thousand rubles. Since the beginning of the year, the minimum wage increased twice - in January it was raised by 4% to 6204 rubles. For comparison, the cost of living in the Russian Federation per capita in the first quarter of 2016 amounted to 9776 rubles, and in the second quarter - 9956 rubles.

According to Rosstat, in the first half of 2016, the number of Russians with incomes below the subsistence level reached 21.4 million people. According to the results of 2015, the number of poor in the Russian Federation turned out to be maximum since 2006, amounting to 19.1 million people.

The real income of Russians in January-August 2016 fell 5.8%, while in August the pace of their fall (8.3%) became maximum since 2008. In general, in 2015, the incomes of the population decreased by 4.3%, in 2016, as the Ministry of Economic Development predicts, the decline will be 4.7–4.9%.
