© Musikwissenschaft LeipzigOn October 7, in the Rakhmaninovsky hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the concert performance of the Opera Orpheus will be held-one of the most original scores in the Russian classic of the Dglinka era, Evstigneya Fomin (1761-1800).
This was reported by the website of the Moscow Conservatory.
The musical tragedy on the text of the playwright Jacob Knyazhnin was created by the composer in 1791-1792. The premiere was held in St. Petersburg, in 1795 the production was presented in Moscow.
At the turn of the XVIII - XIX centuries, the opera Fomin was repeatedly set, but later left the repertoire. Only in 1903, the Moscow Society of Art and Writers put it on its stage. Interest in Orpheus again arose in the middle of the 20th century thanks to the educational activities of the musicologist and researcher of the archives of Russian composers of the Daglinki era Boris Dorokhotov.
“The time has come for a new view of the legacy of Evstignei Fomin -“ Russian Mozart ”, a vivid representative of Russian classicism,” said Irina Skvortsova, the author of the idea and artistic director of the project, the head of the department of Russian music.
The new interpretation of "Orpheus" for the 225th anniversary of his composition and the 255th anniversary of the birth of Evstignei Fomina is being prepared by actor and director Peter Tataritsky, conductor, head of the Chamber Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory Felix Korobov, artistic director of the Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory Alexander Solovyov, Musical consultant of the production of Evgeny Evgeny Party Krivitskaya.
