Translators from the Old Slavonic and Old Russian languages can start working in churches during services, the president of the Russian Academy of Education (RAO) and deputy chairman of the Russian literature Society Lyudmila Verbitskaya told the Moscow News Agency.
“It is necessary to ensure that the language of the church becomes clear to everyone,” she pointed out. “We have the service in the Old Slavonic or Old Russian language, and a sermon in Russian. It seems to me that in this case there must be a translator.”
“I think that we, of course, will still discuss this difficult topic that causes a lot of disputes,” Verbitskaya added.
The Russian literature society was established in March 2016 at the initiative of President Vladimir Putin, it was headed by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill.
At the same time, it is worth recalling that in 2004 the current Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church (Russian Orthodox Church), being then Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad and the head of the department of external church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, excluded the possibility of transferring worship from Old Slavonic to modern Russian, since "such a worship will not be spiritually significant."
Meanwhile, the language of the church has already made it available to the deaf. On September 25, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church first performed in the church of all saints in the metropolitan district of Novokosino the Divine Liturgy with the Sorderian, reported by Patriarhia.ru . The whole service, including chants, in the temple were several specialists who translated everything into the language of gestures.
In 2015, at the same time, the Temple created a center for working with deaf and hard of hearing people, and a divine liturgy with a bureaucrat is performed in the temple every week.
