The rehabilitation center of children with oncology was preparing for the opening. On October 1, 2016, he could accept the first shift-eight guys and eight parents. “We wanted to organize a center for children with oncology, for their mothers and dads,” Albina explains, “where specialists would work with them who understand what hormonal drugs, frequent anesthesia, 10-25 chemists at 16-19 years old. They dreamed that families could break out of their trouble for a while, relax, chat. Sit in a gazebo by the fire, breathe in the forest air. And so that at the same time there were ultrasound, medicines, droppers at hand - everything needed to care for patients. Therefore, I was interested in supporting the regional administration. Of course, I am to blame that I unconditionally trusted officials, signing an agreement with them. But in the document there were two conflicting paragraphs: about our “obligation to timely repair property” and “not to repair and reconstruction of property”. I had no thoughts that people would try to crawl, take the rehabilitation center for cancer patients.

According to the estimates of the Lipetsk volunteers, the center could receive up to 960 people a year: both guys and parents. There are more than 500 children with cancer in the region. In 2015, mortality from malignant formations increased here by 6% - 193.6 cases per 100 thousand people (data from the Federal State Statistics Service), and, according to the Fund for Independent Monitoring of Health, the region is included in twenty constituent entities of the Russian Federation with the highest mortality.
