The head of the Volgograd branch of the movement “For Human Rights” was arrested

In Volgograd, the head of the local branch of the movement “For Human Rights,” Igor Nagavkin, was arrested for two months.

“We are sure that this detention is revenge on Igor Nagavkin for his many years of effective struggle for the rights of prisoners, primarily in the Volgograd region,” Lev Ponomarev, leader of the Movement for Human Rights, told Rosbalt.

Nagavkin is accused of stealing jewelry; the details of the case are still unknown.

The human rights activist’s colleagues see the main danger in the fact that he could be placed in the local pre-trial detention center-1 - Nagavkin’s brother died in this detention center many years ago.
