In the Australian state of Victoria, a sentence was sentenced to a 73-year-old former Catholic churchman who is found guilty of pedophilia. For decades, the worship minister made abuse of a dozen children of both sexes.
By court a decision, Robert Patrick Klaffi will spend 18 years and four months behind bars, 9news.com.au reports. He will receive the right to parole in 13 years and four months.
It was established that in 1969 the holy father raped a seven -year -old parishioner who came to church for the first communion in her life. The rapist threatened the girl that her mother would kill if she tells someone about what happened.
Subsequently, the priest continued to rape altar boys and young parishioners until 1992. For example, in 1974, Klaffi raped a 13-year-old boy in his bedroom.
In one case, the victim of the priest was the younger brother of the deceased man, over whom Claffi made a religious rite.
In 1977, another boy managed to fight off a pedophile priest with a bit for a crystal.
Once the priest asked a group of young parishioners of both sexes to stand in a circle and undress. Then he raped a five -year -old boy.
The priest was convicted of 19 criminal episodes with rape, but Klaffi did not show remorse in court, writes The Guardian .
One of the victims said that he was outraged by the policy of the church leadership, which sought to hush up the scandal associated with accusations of pedophilia. In the dioceses of Melbourne and Ballarat, having learned about Claffi’s crimes, they were limited to transferring him to a different parish.
