Models of social entrepreneurship
The candidate of economic sciences, economist, employee of the Department of Strategic and International Management of St. Petersburg State University Julia Arai in his dissertation defined social entrepreneurship and revealed the main types of business models in social entrepreneurship.
Social entrepreneurship is a type of economic activity aimed at solving the problems of certain groups of people who, due to market failures and the state, do not have access to vital benefits. Unlike charitable activities, social entrepreneurs strive for financial stability and try to achieve a double goal - both social and economic.
Slide from the presentation of Marianna Lyubimova.
Type 1. Model "Platform" . In this model, a social entrepreneur creates a platform of information exchange and acts as an intermediary between a small manufacturer and buyer. For example, the Nizhny Novgorod Craft Gallery unites artisans who sell their products, and gives them the opportunity to sell products at regular fairs and exhibitions. Thus, a small manufacturer receives the benefit in this model who would be difficult to find buyers himself.
Type 2. Model "Access to the Market". This model works, the company "Artistic Providence" , which provides access to the market for small manufacturers, purchasing their products for sale in their stores.
Type 3. Model "Employment" . An example is the Tula Center for Social Rehabilitation of the Berezen disabled . In this model there are vulnerable groups of the population, in this case disabled people, and a social entrepreneur who ensures their training and employment in the field of household services based on the Center.

T IP 4. Model "Access to a product or service". The Bumper project is working on this model - a book bus . Bumper brings books to various cities and sells them at a minimum possible price. This model of social entrepreneurship covers the failures of the market or state and gives a certain group of people access to the product if they are ready to pay for it.
Type 5. Model "Charity". In this model, the client acquires a service or product for free. The source of income is a third party that is ready to finance the project. An example is the organization " Perspective-NN" , which is engaged in the help of parents with children with disabilities. When providing services, payment is taken symbolic or absent at all. The organization receives a subsidy from the regional budget and officially consists in the register of social services providers .
Marianna Lyubimova called three ways to create a social enterprise:
a social enterprise is created "from scratch";
A social enterprise is created from NGOs that learns to earn;
The commercial organization begins to engage in a socially responsible business.
Socially oriented NPOs
NPOs have an additional opportunity to engage in social entrepreneurship - to obtain the status of a socially oriented NPO. These are recognized by NGOs that carry out activities aimed at solving social problems, the development of civil society in the Russian Federation. As well as NPOs, which carry out activities provided for in Art. 31.1 of the Federal Law No. 7-FZ .
Socially responsible NPOs can receive support in the form of subsidies from state authorities and local governments, can participate in the procurement of goods, work and the provision of services to provide state and municipal needs.
