1991 Murder of Igor Talkov

25 years ago, on October 6, 1991, rock musician, singer and poet Igor Talkov was shot dead at a concert in the Yubileiny Sports Palace in St. Petersburg. The cause of the tragedy was the conflict between Talkov and the administrator of the singer Aziza Igor Malakhov for the right to complete the concert. During the ensuing scuffle, Talkov was mortally wounded by a shot from a Malakhov revolver.

Both Malakhov and Talkov's administrator Valery Shlyafman, who allegedly had Malakhov's revolver in his hands, were suspected of negligent murder, but none of them was brought to justice. The revolver from which the shot was fired was immediately disassembled by Malakhov into pieces, thrown into the waters of the Moika and Fontanka. They were never found.
