
The Ministry of Finance proposes to increase interest for non -payment of taxes and fees from 1/300 to 1/180 of the refinancing rate, Vedomosti write with reference to the project of the main directions of the department’s tax policy.
The project says that the amendments should make the penalty tool itself more effective.
The debts of companies account for about 85% of tax debt, while some of them are one-day companies and bankrupt, and 10% falls on especially large debtors. According to the employee of the tax service, the amount with which you can work is 350-400 billion rubles.
It is not clear what amount of additional income will receive a budget from increasing penalties, since there is a hopeless debt that cannot be recovered, a representative of the economic expert group Alexander Suslin told the publication.
Of the 258.2 billion rubles of debt by tax penalties, it is impossible to recover 1.8 billion, the Vedomosti notes.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that a low level of penalties turned tax failure into a type of lending at the expense of the budget. In 2015, the refinancing rate was 25%, now it is equal to the key and amounts to 10%, the newspaper writes.
