Kadyrov demands that offensive posts about Emelianenko be taken down

Ramzan Kadyrov, the president of Russia's Republic of Chechnya, has demanded that his supporters removed offensive posts about Russian mixed martial arts champion Fedor Emelianenko from social media. He made his request via Instagram on Friday.

"You cannot compromise a person's honor. I am certain that Fedor Vladimirovich has realized his mistake ... We need to be tolerant to each other [and] not get personal when discussing matters of public importance," Kadyrov said.

  • The conflict between the Kadyrov and Emelianenko arose when the latter criticized a mixed martial arts tournament for children that took place in Grozny, Chechnya on Tuesday. Emelianenko was angered by the fact that children were fighting without protective equipment. As a result, many of Kadyrov's supporters, including Chechen athletes and Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov, sharply criticized Emelianenko, some even calling him a "rooster" and a "jester".
