Wikileaks releases emails from Clinton campaign chief

The Wikileaks project has published the correspondence of the chief of the campaign headquarters of US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, John Podesta. In total, a little more than two thousand letters have been posted on the site so far, new publications are planned in the future.

The correspondence, according to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, reveals contacts between Podesta and State Department official Jose Fernandez, who was on the commission to approve deals with strategic assets. Previously, the Clinton campaign categorically denied the candidate's possible involvement in approving a deal to sell a stake in the uranium producer Uranium One to a Russian company, which was associated with donations to the Clinton Foundation. Assange claims that the published correspondence contains information that José Fernandez, who was involved in the approval of the deal, assured Podesta of Clinton's support.

• Earlier, Wikileaks posted correspondence from the leadership of the US Democratic Party, from which it followed that high-ranking politicians supported Hillary Clinton and discussed how to prevent Bernie Sanders from winning the Democratic primaries. The Clinton campaign accused Russia of being involved in the hacking and publishing of the letters.
