She had difficult happiness, a difficult fate, a difficult path in the profession and the same death. However, she knew that in her bed she could not die.

The daughter of a high party official, Anya Mazepa, in the third year of the Faculty of Journalism, deafeningly fell in love with Alexander Politkovsky, who studied at a course older than us - in the photo * 1 * Their wedding in April 1978. Verochka was also born for Ilyusha (in the same photo she is on the right, she was 4 years old), and when the children grew up, dogs appeared: in the photo 2 2002, Anya with her chocolate Doberman Martyn.

In the profession, she was also not easy for her. She did not like politics and politicians, believing the task of the journalist - to protect the humiliated and destitute. The second war in Chechnya completely plowed her. The special correspondent of Novaya Gazeta Politkovskaya wrote about the suffering of people in refugees camps and in the Chechen villages, which were cleared by special forces ( photo 6 ) - once it was detained by the “feds” and almost shot, wrote about those who disappeared in the Kazemat of the new Grozny authorities - in the photo * 5 of 2005, she was in the form of one of these cases along with those who were killed in 2009 in 2009 in 2009 in 2009 In Chechnya, human rights activist Natalya Estemirova ( third on the right*). In Moscow - only a memorial plaque next to the entrance where it lived, and on the building of Novaya Gazeta, where she worked. The customer of her murder was never found. We remember.
