Lukashenko announced the end of the oil and gas conflict with Russia

Russia and Belarus regulated an oil and gas dispute. This was announced on October 10 by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, RIA Novosti reports .

“Yesterday I got acquainted with the report of the government on oil and gas issues with the Russian Federation. As I understand it, the next battles are completed and we managed to get to sign the relevant document, problematic issues, at least yesterday, were agreed and removed, ”BelTA quotes Lukashenko.

Later on October 10, the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko noted that in Minsk they agreed to cancel the increase in tariffs for oil transit in exchange that Russia would restore the volume of oil supply of Belarus, Interfax said. In addition, according to Semashko, already this year the cost of Russian gas for Belarus will be significantly reduced, Prime reports.

Prior to this, Moscow and Minsk could not agree on the price of the Russian gas supplied by the Belarusian side. At the end of September, Lukashenko, in this regard, complained that Belarus had “too many problems” in relation to Russia.

Against the background of the gas dispute of the Russian Federation, it reduced oil supply to Belarus. So, in July, the Russian Tatneft by 40% compared to the second quarter reduced oil supplies to Belarus. The Reuters source in the Russian energy sector explained that in this way Lukashenko is “punished for a turn to the west and critical statements to Russia”.

On October 7, the President of Belarus said that Russia could count on the support of the Belarusian army in a western direction. Lukashenko noted that "in this western direction we will die here, protecting Belarus and Russia."
