As the Russian president noted, referring to the forecasts of the International Energy Agency, after 20-30 years, "the world will still remain hydrocarbon, and the demand for oil and gas will continue to grow."

According to Putin, the demand for traditional energy sources is supported by "not only by the automation and electrification of such huge countries and economies as China, India", but also "ongoing penetration of oil and gas chemistry into various spheres of human life."

Russia, Putin added, is ready to increase hydrocarbons to China, Japan and India. At the same time, according to the president, the Russian Federation is ready to join the restriction of oil production, the decision of which in September was made by the participating countries of the OPEC. It is assumed that these measures, the specific parameters of which OPEC will discuss in November, stabilize oil prices.

In January 2016, oil prices fell to a minimum for 12 years: Brent cost less than $ 28 per barrel, WTI - less than $ 29. For comparison, in mid -2014, the Brent barrel cost about $ 116, the WTI barrel - about $ 108.
