The decision to extend the treatment of Chelyabinsk resident Alexey Moroshkin in a mental hospital remains in force

On October 12, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court upheld the extension of compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital for local resident Alexey Moroshkin for six months. Information about this was received from lawyer Andrei Lepekhin, who represents Moroshkin’s interests.

The reason for opening the case was his posts about the need to create the Ural People's Republic. In November 2015, Moroshkin was released from responsibility in this case and in December he was sent for compulsory treatment to the Regional Clinical Specialized Psychoneurological Hospital No. 1 in the city of Chelyabinsk. In July 2016, the treatment period was extended for another six months.

On September 16, 2016, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court ordered a re-examination of Moroshkin. The reason for this decision was the statement of his attending physician that Moroshkin did not need hospital treatment. However, later the attending physician gave up caring for Moroshkin. A repeat examination was carried out, during which the doctors demanded that Moroshkin stop calling himself a political prisoner, explaining that this, as well as the refusal of the disability group, is a symptom of his disease - in their opinion, this shows a lack of a critical attitude towards his painful condition and presenting a danger to others.

apparently suspended Shortly before Moroshkin was transferred to a department with worse conditions, the head doctor of the hospital was in favor of refusing to provide lawyer Andrei Lepekhin with information about Moroshkin’s medical condition.

fined A case of vandalism was also opened against Alexey Moroshkin in connection with accusations of painting a bust of Lenin in Chelyabinsk in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The case is currently under further investigation.
