Dollar 63.35

The local rise in the price of a barrel of Brent crude oil above $53 brought the dollar down to the lows of the year, but then it quickly began to grow. As a result, in five days its official rate rose by 96 kopecks to 63.35 rubles/$, and dollar savings rose in price by 1.5%.

Euro 69.73

The official euro exchange rate fell by 12 kopecks, amounting to 69.73 rubles. The ruble value of assets denominated in euros decreased by 0.2%.

In total, since the beginning of 2016, the dollar has fallen by 14%, and the euro by 13%.

Stocks and bonds

The Russian stock market once again tested the 2,000-point level on the MICEX index, but was unable to hold on to it. Over the last five trading sessions on the Moscow Exchange, its value has decreased by 0.4%. On Thursday, exchange trading closed at 1,976.37 points. The dollar-denominated RTS index fell by 1.6% to 987.99 points. Just under half of liquid shares increased in price.

The yield on ruble government bonds is 8.2–9.74% per annum, and on corporate bonds – 8.8–18.2%.

During the period from October 6 to 12, at least half of open-end mutual investment funds (MIFs) saw their investments increase. The luckiest were clients of mutual funds of companies in the raw materials sector, whose shares grew in price by 2-3.4%. Funds tracking the dynamics of the MICEX index brought in a profit of 1.2-1.45%. The worst investments of this period were shares of mutual funds of foreign stock markets and high technologies, which fell in price by 2.5-6%.

Deposits

Private retail banks continue to reduce the yield on ruble deposits. In Rosgosstrakh Bank, the rates on two-year ruble deposits have been reduced by 0.5 percentage points, and in Vozrozhdenie Bank – by 0.3–0.4 percentage points. The yield on ruble deposits in Renaissance Credit Bank has become lower by 0.25 percentage points. But Sberbank , on the contrary, pleased depositors by offering a new anniversary deposit for a period of 175 days with a rate increased by more than 1 percentage point compared to other retail deposits in the basic line: 7.25–8% per annum.

According to the Central Bank’s calculations, the average maximum rate for 10 banks with the largest volume of ruble funds from individuals fell by 0.03% to 8.66% in the first ten days of October.

The price of a troy ounce of gold increased by only 0.1% to $1,257, silver – by 0.8% to $17.45. Platinum fell by 3.6% to $934 per ounce.
