North Korea conducted a failed ballistic missile test

North Korea conducted an unsuccessful test of a ballistic missile on October 15, South Korean and US military officials said.

According to the US military, the DPRK tested the Musudan medium-range missile. The launch was made at a test site near the city of Kuson.

• Musudan (also known as BM25) is North Korea's first medium-range ballistic missile. According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, the DPRK tested Musudan seven times, and only one launch is considered successful. North Korea's testing of ballistic missiles is prohibited by a UN Security Council resolution.
• In September 2015, the DPRK conducted another successful test of an atomic bomb.
