The Western Foreign Minister will discuss Syria without Russia

After an unproductive meeting in Lausanne , the ministers of the Foreign Affairs of Western countries will gather in London to discuss the possibilities of Syrian settlement without Russia, the Russian Air Force service reports.

At a meeting in London, US Secretary of State John Kerry will negotiate with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Britain, France and Germany. Representatives of the Syrian government or the Syrian opposition will also participate in the meeting.

On Saturday in Lausanne, a meeting of Kerry with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, as well as representatives of a number of other countries involved in the conflict in Syria - Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey, took place. After a five -hour discussion, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said that the negotiation participants discussed “several ideas” that could affect the situation. His American colleague John Kerry called the meeting in Lausanne constructive, but "with complex, tense moments." No final document was issued after negotiations.

On Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which he cited some details of these negotiations. In particular, it refers to the commitment of all participants in the meeting in Lausanne as a holistic, independent and secular state, "in which the Syrians themselves will determine the future of their country during the inclusive political dialogue." At the same time, the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasizes the need to “dissolve the detachments of the“ moderate ”opposition from jihadist groups.

After the breakdown of the September truce, the Syrian army, with the support of Russian aviation, is constant at the shelling of the eastern part of Aleppo held by the rebels. As a result of bombing, a civilian population regularly perishes. The West accuses the regime of President Assad and his allies of committing war crimes.

Negotiations in London will be held chaired by the head of Foreign Office Boris Johnson, one of the most tough critics in Russia for supporting the operation in Aleppo. Last Tuesday, during a speech in parliament, as part of the debate dedicated to Syria, Johnson announced the guilt of Russia in attacking the UN Humanitarian Conductor near Aleppo and called on opponents of the war to arrange a demonstration of the Russian Embassy in London. This caused an angry reaction of the Russian authorities.
