Following the talks, the heads of state signed a resolution calling on the international community to expedite the adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on Terrorism at the UN. The declaration confirms the position of the BRICS countries “that international terrorism, in particular the Islamic State (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) and terrorist groups and individuals who have joined them, constitute a global and unprecedented danger to peace and stability.”
Also at the summit, a joint action plan was adopted to implement the final declaration, which specifies the work of the organization for 2017.
“Russia will continue to promote the convergence of the economies of the five,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin. He invited business representatives from the BRICS countries to work on the Russian market, developing partnerships with Indian companies.
