The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg communicated complaints from those detained at rallies in support of those accused in the Bolotnaya case on February 24, 2014. Lawyer of the Memorial Human Rights Center Tatyana Glushkova reported this on her Facebook page on October 17.

The text of the statement includes 12 people: Mikhail Mayzuls, Boris Nikolsky, Vitaly Novoselov, Artem Khukhorev, Evgeny Yakshin, Ilya Shchurov, Andrey Skorokhod, Pyotr Maslov, Georgy Mzhavanadze, Daniil Grachev, Pavel Protasov and Ivan Babitsky. 11 of them were detained on Tverskaya Street in Moscow at a spontaneous protest after the verdict of eight defendants in the case of the riots on May 6, 2012. Daniil Grachev was detained at a similar protest in St. Petersburg. All detainees, except Mzhavanadze, were charged with Part 5 of Art. 20.2 of the Administrative Code (violation of the procedure for holding a public event) - they were sentenced to fines from 10,000 to 20,000 rubles; Mzhavanadze was fined 1,000 rubles under Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to a lawful demand of a police officer).
The applicants believe that the Russian Federation violated in relation to them Article 5 (right to liberty and security of person), Article 6 (right to a fair trial), Article 10 (right to freedom of expression) and Article 11 (right to freedom of assembly) of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
On February 24, 2014, in the area of Manezhnaya Square, according to OVD-Info, 430 people were detained . Earlier that day, 234 people were detained at the Zamoskvoretsky court. On October 10, it became known that the complaint of those detained at the court was communicated in the morning.
In recent months, news about the fate of complaints to the ECHR in cases related in one way or another to the topic of freedom of assembly in Russia and the Bolotnaya case has been coming more and more often. In July, the complaint of those detained at the Zamoskvoretsky court on February 21 was communicated - on the first day of the announcement of the verdict in the case of mass unrest on May 6, the police detained about 200 people. On October 4, the ECHR ordered the Russian Federation to pay one of those convicted for the events on Bolotnaya Square, Yaroslav Belousov, compensation of 12,500 euros. On September 17, a court in Strasbourg awarded compensation to three other defendants in the Bolotnaya case, Leonid Kovyazin, Artem Savelov and Ilya Gushchin, for unlawful pre-trial arrests - 2,000, 3,000 and 2,000 euros, respectively. On October 5, the Supreme Court of Russia, relying on the decision of the ECHR, overturned all decisions on pre-trial arrests and extensions of arrests in relation to all three.
