Twenty-day arrest for “Putin’s walks” upheld

On October 19, the Moscow City Court rejected a complaint against the decision of the Tverskoy Court, which on October 14 arrested Moscow activist Roman Roslovtsev for 20 days on charges of “repeated” violation at a public event while walking along Red Square with a poster “I’m not afraid 212.1.” Nikolai Zboroshenko, a lawyer representing the interests of Roslovtsev, reported this to OVD-Info.

Roslovtsev systematically opposes Article 212.1, introduced into the Criminal Code in the summer of 2014, which provides for punishment of up to five years in prison for “repeated” violations at public events. The activist regularly goes to Red Square with a poster “I’m not afraid of 212.1”, in some cases also wearing a Putin mask.
