Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to take part in the Normandy Four meeting in Berlin on October 19, a source in Moscow told Interfax. The agency has no official confirmation of this information.

A statement from the German government confirmed that the leaders of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia will meet in Berlin on Wednesday, The Wall Street Journal reports.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, while on an official visit to Norway, held a telephone conversation with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported. They "agreed to hold a meeting of heads of state in the Normandy format in Berlin on October 19 with the aim of forcing Russia to implement the Minsk agreements in terms of security policy," a statement on Poroshenko's website said.

Paris confirmed Hollande's intention to take part in the meeting, RIA Novosti reports. "The President of the Republic will travel to Berlin tomorrow, October 19, to take part in the Normandy format meeting at the invitation of Chancellor Merkel. A year after the meeting in Paris, the meeting with Presidents Poroshenko and Putin will allow an assessment of the implementation of the Minsk agreements and discuss the next stages of the settlement of the crisis in eastern Ukraine," the Elysee Palace communiqué says.
