ESET: Fancy Bear attacked the participants of the "Anonymous International"

The hacker group of Fancy Bear, allegedly related to the GRU, previously attacked the accounts of the participants of the "Anonymous International" - a community publishing the correspondence of Russian officials on the Shaltai -Boltai blog. This was reported in the investigation of experts of the Slovak company ESET - developer of programs to protect information, including NOD32 antivirus. Other goals of Fancy Bear in Russia were opposition politicians, including Parnas, as well as foreign scientists who came to Russian universities.

Fancy Bear, also known as Sednit, Apt28, Tsar Team, Sofacy and Pawn Storm, has been working since 2004, the investigation said. On her account - attacks on the embassies of one and a half dozen states, on the Ministry of Defense of the five countries, including Turkey, Ukraine and South Korea. Also, the objects of attacks were the accounts of NATO officials, Ukrainian politicians, journalists from Eastern Europe.

As noted, attacks occur from 9 to 17 hours Moscow time (according to Kommersant, such an observation was made two years ago in its investigation, the American company Fireye). At the same time, most of the 1888 hacks made from March 16 to September 14 last year were committed from Monday to Friday.

Among the most famous attacks by Fancy Bear are the hacks of the servers of the German Bundestag, the French television channel TV5 and the National Committee of the Democratic Party of the United States. In early October, Washington first directly accused Moscow of cyber attacks on the electoral system of the United States. US Vice President Joe Biden promised to answer these tricks. White House spokesman Josh Ernest did not rule out that new financial sanctions against Russia would be the answer.
