Arrested Volgograd human rights activist goes on hunger strike

The reason for the hunger strike, which Nagavkin, in his own words, began on October 12, was the lack of qualified medical care in the pre-trial detention center. Meanwhile, the press service of the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service stated that Nagavkin is under the control of a medical worker of the pre-trial detention center, he is receiving all the necessary medical care and there are no threats to his health, the publication reports.

The Volgograd Regional Court reduced Nagavkin's arrest until November 16, before that the Dzerzhinsky District Court had arrested him for two months. Nagavkin is accused of stealing jewelry. Human rights activists believe that the reason for the persecution was the professional activities of Nagavkin. He himself believes that they were interested in him in connection with attempts to expose the drug mafia in law enforcement agencies, the "Caucasian Knot" reports.
