On October 21, the North Caucasian District Military Court held a debate of the parties in the case of the imam of the Dagestan mosque Magomednabi Magomedov, accused of incitement to terrorism and inciting hatred. The public prosecutor asked the court to sentence the imam to five years in prison. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the representative of the press service of the court Alena Katkalo.
“The prosecutor asked Magomedov for 5 years in prison in a colony-settlement, the verdict will take place on October 24 at 16:00 Moscow time,” Katkalo explained.
According to investigators, Magomednabi Magomedov, being the imam of the Vostochnaya mosque, in February 2016 delivered a speech to a group of people gathered in the mosque containing a public justification of terrorism, as well as calls aimed at inciting hatred on the basis of attitude to religion, to government officials and law enforcement officials.
