The director of the Library of Ukrainian Literature had his arrest extended until the end of April

On October 21, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow extended until April 28 the period of house arrest for the director of the Library of Ukrainian Literature, Natalya Sharina, having satisfied the corresponding petition of the prosecutor. It is reported by RAPSI. Ivan Pavlov, a lawyer accused of extremism and embezzlement on an especially large scale, noted that the court allowed Sharina to take daily two-hour walks.

On Friday, October 21, a preliminary hearing on Sharina's criminal case was also held behind closed doors.

Director of the Library of Ukrainian Literature Natalia Sharina is accused of inciting hatred or enmity on ethnic grounds using her official position (Article 282 of the Criminal Code) and embezzlement on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation, in 2011-2015, Sharina distributed a book by UNA-UNSO leader Dmitro Korchinsky, which was recognized as extremist material, and also conducted “anti-Russian and anti-Russian propaganda” with the help of other printed materials. The charge of embezzlement was brought against the director later - she allegedly paid for the services of lawyers from budget funds and fictitiously hired two lawyers.
