25 years ago, on October 22, 1991, the All-Union State Security Committee was liquidated by a resolution of the State Council of the USSR. On its basis, the Inter-Republican Security Service was created, the main function of which was to be the coordination of the work of the republican security services and the conduct of counterintelligence activities agreed with them. Along with the SSB, instead of the KGB, the Central Intelligence Service and the Committee for the Protection of the State Border were also created.
