Eight Moscow cinemas refused to show the film of documentary vitaly Mansky "In the Rays of the Sun" about North Korea. It is reported by "Medusa" with reference to the director himself.
The refusal came from the seven cinemas of the state network "Moskino", as well as from the Eldar cinema. The administration of the latter referred to the order of the head of the Moscow Department of Culture Alexander Kibovsky.
"A few days before the rental began, the shaft of refusal went, even with signed agreements. There is no secret, the reason for the failure that the Russian state reacts to the requirements of the North Korean authorities. It is difficult to imagine that someone else - Poland or Germany, America or Japan - listened to the demand of the North Korean authorities. And as a result, the question arises: why is Russia listening, why the requirements are being fulfilled and instructions are accepted, it is accepted. Outside the legal plane, from the state and regime, the status of which does not need to explain to anyone, ”said Mansky.
The film should be released on October 27. It will be shown in 20 cinemas of the capital.
The script of the documentary "in the rays of the Sun" was written by the North Korean side. It tells about an 8-year-old girl who should join the Children's Union on the public holiday of the Sun. Filming took place in Pyongyang. The director was supposed to take all the shot material for the check. However, the operator Alexander Ivanov shot a camera with two video cards. Thus, the material that did not undergo North Korean censorship was preserved.
On September 25, the Russian premiere of the film was held at the Message to Man Festival in St. Petersburg. According to Mansky, in the morning on this day he did not know if the premiere would be canceled.
