A fortune teller has become a defendant in the case of the theft of 1.5 billion rubles from Nota Bank.

As follows from the case materials, Mihai often communicated with another person involved in the case, the bank’s financial director Galina Marchukova, and “gave her advice based on fortune telling, fortune telling on cards, old books and coffee grounds. In addition, Mihai read prayers for her client’s success in business.”

The fortune teller's lawyer, Maxim Burdin, at the meeting where the preventive measure in the form of arrest was challenged, called the charges absurd and pointed out that his client graduated from four classes and does not understand financial matters.

“It turns out that she is accused of fortune telling, fortune telling, astral accompaniment of fate and other nonsense in the case of scammers in the form of complicity. A predictor of the fate of swindlers - what is an accomplice in crime? - asked the lawyer.

The investigation considers an audio recording of her conversation with Marchukova to be an important evidence of Mihai’s guilt, an excerpt from which the lawyer read in court:

Marchukova: “Well, 13 million?”

Marchukova: “No, in rubles.”

Mihai: “Well, will I have to sell this and buy it later? There aren't many of them, are there? Why can’t he take it in euros?”

Marchukova: “It can’t, Nonna, what are you saying, she can’t pick it up at the cash register, this needs to be sent to someone now, they need to be driven away a little.”

Mihai: “Yeah, I see.”

Marchukova: “Well, that’s 13 million, and they get some kind of small commission? I said everything directly."

Mihai: “Let him search, he will find everything, I saw from the book that everything will happen.”

In addition to Mikhai and Galina Marchukova, co-owners of the bank, brothers Dmitry and Vadim Erokhin, as well as Marchukova’s sister Larisa, are accused in the case of withdrawing funds from Nota Bank; all are accused of fraud on an especially large scale. The latter also appears in a criminal case of bribery, in which Interior Ministry Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko is accused.

According to investigators, he warned Larisa Marchukova in advance about the impending search. During a search, 8.5 billion rubles were found in Zakharchenko’s sister’s apartment. As Kommersant wrote, the investigation considers the colonel’s father to be a specialist in withdrawing money from banks before revoking a license, and thus explains the billions of rubles from the policeman.
