A protest against animal killings near the representative office of the Khabarovsk Territory ended with the detention of one of the participants

The police detained one of the participants of the national gathering against animal cruelty at the representative office of the Khabarovsk Territory on Novy Arbat in Moscow, the reports . Dozhd TV channel

According to the TV channel, the girl was holding a poster with an animal protection message. The police who detained her took the activist to the Arbat police station. After this, the police tried to detain another girl, but other protesters did not allow them to do this. In total, according to the TV channel's correspondent, about 80 people came to the rally.

The reason for the action was the killing of 15 animals that became victims of two residents of Khabarovsk. Users of the image board “Dvach” drew attention to the girls. Later, one of them was detained at the Novosibirsk airport while trying to transfer to a flight to St. Petersburg.

Initially, the case against the girls was initiated under Part 1 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code (cruelty to animals), but soon their actions were reclassified to the more serious second part of this article. One defendant is under recognizance not to leave the place, the other was sent under house arrest due to an attempt to hide from the investigation.
