The Butyrsky District Court of Moscow has extended house arrest for Imam of the Yardyam Mosque, Makhmud Velitov, until December 27. This is reported by the agency "Moscow".
The agency refers to Yulia Ivanova, senior assistant to the head of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for Moscow, according to whom the results of a psychological and linguistic forensic examination showed that one of the imam’s public speeches delivered in 2013 contains “a combination of psychological and linguistic signs of justifying terrorist activities ".
Velitov is charged with publicly justifying the activities of the activist Abdulla Gappaev, who was killed in Kizlyar, who was suspected of involvement in the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir, an organization that is recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation and banned, as human rights activists believe, groundlessly.
The agency, citing the press service of the Moscow Main Internal Affairs Directorate, reports that searches were carried out “at the place of registration and at the place of work” of Velitov and prohibited literature was found.
