
Boris Dobrodeev, General Director of the VKontakte social network, took up the post of general director of the Internet company Mail.ru Group. This was reported in a press release from the organization of October 26.
In this post, Dobrodeev will be replaced by Dmitry Grishin, who headed Mail.Ru Group since 2010. Grishin explained that Dobrodeev would take over the leadership of the current operating activities of the company.
“I plan to focus on investments and strategies, including international expansion,” Grishin pointed out, noting that he would continue to participate in the management of the group as chairman of the board of directors.
Boris Dobrodeev, the son of the general director of VGTRK Oleg Dobrodeev, headed VKontakte in September 2014 - after Mail.ru Group gained control of the social network. Prior to this, VKontakte was led by its founder Pavel Durov.
On October 26, Mail.ru Group also submitted preliminary revenue data for the third quarter and for January-September 2016. The revenue of the group for the third quarter, excluding the results of Pixonic, increased in annual terms by 5% to 9.13 billion rubles (taking into account the purchase of Pixonic, the growth of the indicator was 9.4%). In the first three quarters of this year, revenue increased by 9.3%.
